Finally, The Opposition Leader Lazarus Chakwera Has Been Declared Winner of Malawi’s Election

The Opposition leader Lazarus Chakwera has been declared winner of Malawi’s election with 58.57% of the votes.

Remember, Malawians voted in May 2019 but when it was clear the election had been mismanaged, they took to the streets demanding electoral justice.

When the police shot at them, the army moved in to protect the protestors.
Army also provided security to judges hearing the elections case. The judges nullified the result of the election and ordered a re-run which was held this week. President Mutharika lost heavily.
