The court also ordered that the N135.8 million and $6,600 recovered by the special investigation bureau as well as the N150 million stolen money which could not be accounted for be returned to the coffers of the Nigerian Army.
It added that all the sentences are subject to the approval of the appropriate convening authority. Major Gen Hakeem Oladapo Otiki was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army Sokoto.
In July 2019, he was placed under house arrest and moved to Abuja after five soldiers belonging to his escort absconded with 400 million naira while providing security services for a very important personality to Kaduna. In another news report, a group, the Coalition Against Killings in Northern Nigeria (CAKIN), has condemned the incessant killings of innocent people in the northern part of the country.
reported that the coalition in a statement it issued on Monday, June 15, at Arewa House, Kaduna, lamented that the elected governments at both the federal and state levels have failed in their primary responsibilities of protecting lives and property of the citizens.
The coalition comprises the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria led by Isa Abubakar; Arewa Youth Consultative Forum led by Yerima Shettima; Northern Anti-corruption Front led by Yusuf Idris Amoke; Arewa Youth Assembly led by Mohammed Salihu Danlami; Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations led by Murtala Abubakar; CUPS led by Idris Mohammed; and Arewa Youth Forum led by Gambo Gujungu.
It said that despite being a retired soldier in the Nigerian Army and being at the helms of affairs in the country for five years, President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has failed to tame the ugly incident of insecurity in the country.
