CHINUA ACHEBE, a man of integrity

In 2011, a movie which also starred famous American rapper, 50cent, was produced under the same name as Chinua Achebe's 1958 novel, Things Fall Apart.

After being contacted by Achebe's legal, 50cent offered $1milllion to keep the tittle Things Fall Apart for the film. Achebe was furious and took it as an insult.

The foundation that managed Achebe's copyrights then said that Things Fall Apart is listed as the most read book in modern African literature and would not be sold even for £1billion.

Achebe rejected the offer and the movie was later renamed ALL THINGS FALL APART.

Achebe was really a man of integrity. Do you also know that he rejected two national honours from the Nigerian government?
