Female members of the 2,000-year-old Yao ethnic group in China cut their hair once in their lives immediately they turn 18, a sign to prove they were adults and could get married.
Some women in the tribe have hair longer than three feet with one woman recorded with hair at seven feet. They use rice water to wash their hair, a secret for them to keep the locks healthy, smooth and shiny.
